Setup

Installing and setting up the software is straight forward and only takes a few minutes. Once installation is complete the user can choose to go through the new profile setup wizard which allows the user to configure synchronization settings to suit their requirements. Once the profile is setup the user can choose which files and folders they would like to sync. We encountered no issues during the setup process as it is extremely simplified and optimized for use by novice users.

Synchronization

SmartSync is capable of both one-way and multi-directional synchronization. It works on a location network and can remotely synchronize files as well. The software will securely back-up and synchronize your data across multiple computers and has a range of advanced features that are complimented by step-by-step wizards which guide the user through the customization process.

The initial backup process may take several minutes to complete, but once that is complete the software will make incremental backups which is far more efficient and only takes a matter of a few seconds. If any of your data is corrupted or accidently deleted the software will automatically restore a previous version of the file. The bi-directional synchronization feature will allow the user to easily synchronize data across multiple computers, and the software will track up to 100 file versions so it is easy to restore files if required.

Ease of use

The software is clearly designed with user friendliness in mind as it is incredibly easy-to-use. The inbuilt new profile wizard allows users to ease into the program and the color highlighting feature for any new changes makes it easy to keep track of all your tasks. The synchronization settings are easy to configure and all you to select which files you would like to synchronize, plus the added scheduling support allows you to automate synchronization processes at a chosen time. The availability of useful documentation on the website is an added bonus and allows users to trouble shoot their own problems within a matter of minutes.
