Wikipedia moves away from GoDaddy

12 March 2012 | Category: Online

The organization has now moved its content to a different hosting provider after it deemed the GoDaddy's attitude to SOPA unacceptable.

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales said that it would move its domain name and content in December after GoDaddy announced it would support the controversial Stop Online Piracy Act.

Following GoDaddy's announcement nearly 25,000 domains were transferred to different registrars following widespread criticism of GoDaddy's stance.
