A new security report suggests that malware on mobile devices has risen by 26% in the last three months.
The report released by security company F-Secure also found 259 newly discovered threats and variants from existing families. The report was based on data from the Android and Apple App Stores.
97% of all threats were on Google’s Android operating system, although as the report points out this wasn't a total surprise as Android now holds a 80% market share. The remaining 3% of threats were on the Symbian platform. No threats were found on Apple iOS and Windows Phone.
Fewer threats are appearing the Google Play store due to an increase in their security measures. However even Google's security measures can't stop adverts appearing in Apps that send users to malicious websites.
