Google appears to be getting ready to launch its own social networking website, which many believe is intended to challenge Facebook's social networking dominance.
Rumours have been circulating the internet for the past few months and Google's recent acquisitions of several social networking companies suggest the rumour could well be true.
This is not the first time Google have tried to forge their way into the social networking scene. The company still owns Orkut, which is much less popular than Facebook in the US and Europe, but is very popular in India and Brazil. It has also just closed Google Buzz, which was plagued by technical problems.
It now appears Google is looking to develop a new social networking website as quickly as possible and is buying up small companies to acquire the technology it needs to compete fully with Facebook.
