Bing integrates Facebook into its search results

Microsoft hope that the new feature will encourage Google users to switch to Bing.

Microsoft has introduced a new side panel into its search engine Bing, that encourages users to connect with friends who may have answer to their search query.

Microsoft announced on its blog yesterday that it was planning on adding other social networks such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Foursquare into the new feature called "Friend's who might know".

The tool was developed from Microsoft's belief that search engine users tend to consult friends before they make a decision about a product or service.

Microsoft hope that the new feature will encourage Google users to switch to Bing. Google currently dominate the search engine market in both the US and Europe.

The new tool will appear with Bing's US results in the coming days. Microsoft have yet to announce when it will appear worldwide.
