The American book retailers Barnes & Noble are set to go international over the next few years, and have placed high priority on getting their devices and books to the UK before anywhere else.

Even though a fully international launch may take some time, Barnes & Noble are hoping to make it across the shores to Europe within the next year, to take on their US rival, Kindle.

Barnes & Noble have pushed Amazon’s Kindle sales back from 90% of all digital book purchases to around 60%, with Apple’s help too. With their impressive line of e-readers, they’ve become one of the only true Kindle competitors and they are preparing to do the same in Europe.

According to sources, Barnes & Noble are preparing a UK launch this autumn. They won’t be adding the full-colour tablet to their UK range when they arrive, but will add all of their recent e-readers.

Barnes & Noble have an impressive 2.5 million books on their digital store, something that has made them such a wanted company. Microsoft recently paid a $605 million cash injection in the company, which is said to be the reason for the European expansion.

Right now, Barnes & Noble are looking to UK retailers to get their e-reader in the stores and make bonds with the retailers for the future.
