Excellent for serious marketers and the professional email marketing team, Pinpointe provides a whole host of features to pinpoint your email marketing – segmentation, tight targeting, drip marketing and more. This is a higher-price option than its direct competitors, but you are paying for the feature list and professional services backing.
With good quality email design tools and a large feature set, this email marketing service is more for the business professional than the irregular email sender. We looked closely at Pinpointe to discover its qualities.
Pinpointe has an almost bewildering array of pricing structures. There are many more options here than at the other top-rating email marketing service providers. Choose from a plan based on the number of active contacts in your list, a plan based on the number of emails sent per month, or choose a pay-as-you go plan where you buy credits that roll over each month. Pay monthly and get a discount for six months upfront.
Set up is easy, and Pinpointe has your account up and running within 10 minutes.
Pinpointe has fewer ready-made templates to make use of, and the dozen or so provided are functional rather than stylish. You will probably be more impressed with the email design feature (HTML and WYSIWYG, plus the ability to create text-only or HTML-only emails) and the ability to host unlimited amounts of images with your campaign for free. You also have the ability to lock your created templates in place and use them in future campaigns.
Pinpointe offers some of the most comprehensive, detailed segmentation tools on the market and in our experience you can use these to create highly tailored campaigns.
Don’t rely on static information to plot your campaigns, send emails based on contacts’ behavior, not their title or sex. These tools include event trigger email campaigns which automatically send to contacts when they visit a specific web page, or their subscription is up for renewal. You basically create automatic triggers that move contacts to lists based on their behavior. You can also schedule emails to send on holidays or other specific dates, and resend campaigns to people who didn’t open them in the first place.
Segmentation is all-encompassing and you can use it to send campaigns to contacts based on a variety of factors.
Pinpointe helps you organize your lists by checking for common email address errors, and by automatically de-duping multiple lists so you don’t send the same email twice to the same contact.
Pinpointe has a built-in spam checker to run your emails through prior to sending. You can also improve the readability of your email by testing how it will display in various email systems.
To help your emails reach more recipients and maintain the integrity of your email reputation, Pinpointe keeps a list of blocked email addresses, expired domains, and contacts that have reported the campaign as junk so you won’t harass people with your mails. You can also create your own blocked list. When emails bounce, Pinpointe staff address the problem by checking the delivery status and rerouting emails to other IP addresses. If your company has a proven track record of high quality email marketing and wants to move to your own IP address, you can with Pinpointe.
One great thing about the Pinpointe service is the integration with Google Analytics – this is a powerful tool to let you know how well your email campaigns are doing. Measure clicks, transactions, per visitor stats and conversion rates.
That’s not all – Pinpointe has an extensive reporting feature set, as befits a service targeted to B2B professionals. You can create “digital footprints”, records of all the actions each contact takes in relation to your emails. And there is the regular monitoring of unsubscribes, click-throughs, forwarding etc. You can go for the wide picture, or drill down to the specifics.
Autoresponder – The autoresponder message goes out, if you want it to, when a contact is added to your list or in response to another trigger event.
Surveys – Your Pinpointe package includes free surveys and unlimited opportunities to canvas opinion or carry out a poll. You can set up autoresponders to send emails based on certain answers.
Personalization – Personalize email campaigns by addressing contacts in specific and personalized ways. To create a better impression, you can send emails on behalf of someone else – good for large sales teams and in situations where the personal touch is needed.
Despite being full of features, the Pinpointe system is easy to use. It does get more complicated the more tailored features you use, but the basics are simple to grasp. The Pinpointe interface is easy to navigate and you can send a campaign within the hour after setting up your account.
There are help bubbles and links to more advice at each step of creating an email campaign. We think the bulk tasks like deleting and archiving multiple contacts will help save time.
You can’t contact Pinpointe for phone support, but you can get in touch through email or live chat. The support personnel who answer your emails are available 24 hours a day but the response time is not guaranteed immediate – two to four business hours is standard. Live chat is only available during business hours, and not at the weekend. There are training videos, a knowledge base and other resources available on the site.
Flexibility in design, masses of list building and reporting features, and enhanced deliverability make Pinpointe a comprehensive and professional choice.
