• Low RAM usage
• Easy to setup and use
• Attractive Interface
• Does not work on Windows Vista or Windows 7
• Slow Scans
• No protection against phishing
While ZeroSpyware is a solid anti-spyware program, the slow scan speeds, lack of compatibility, and less effective protection than competitors make it only an average choice for your anti-spyware needs.
The setup is very simple. Just download the setup file and let it do the rest. You should have the program up and running in minutes. You should then enter your user-name and registration key you received after purchasing the product for $29.95.
After you're all set-up, the program should automatically perform an initial scan. The scan itself will take a good amount of time to complete when compared to other programs, but it will impact your computer performance very little. It takes up much less RAM than it's competitors, but you might be waiting a while.
ZeroSpyware's effectiveness isn't quite up to par with the top anti-spyware programs. It did not detect and remove as many threats that many other programs removed in our tests. It will get most, but not all threats, and sometimes most isn't enough.
The program does protect your computer constantly and will remove them before they can infect your computer. It has tons of features and blockers that constantly protect your computer from threats.
ZeroSpyware is very light on computer resources both during scan and when it is idle. It takes up less RAM than most other programs and you will not notice an impact in PC performance. If you want an anti-spyware program that won't hog up your computer's resources, ZeroSpyware is an option for you. You better be patient.
ZeroSpyware updates frequently enough, but not nearly as much as it's competitors. You want your anti-spyware program to be up-to-date with the latest information and new threats. The updates can be automatic or you can set the program to notify you when an update is available.
ZeroSpyware has all the features you could want and you won't be asking for more. You can easily set-up scheduling so you can have the program automatically scan every day, week, or month.
The program has something called “Spyware Immunization”, which means your computer is immunized against a large list of known spyware installers. You can easily remove all or certain items from this list.
ZeroSpyware also has something called a “Vulnerability Scan” which scans your computer for any security holes in your system. It scans and tries to fix any vulnerable spots that can be exploited by spyware.
Ease of use
The program is extremely easy to use and computer users of almost all levels should have no problem figuring out how to perform a scan and remove threats. Even some more advanced functions aren't too difficult for beginners. While it's generally easy to use, there are a few options that the program doesn't explain very well and you will have to research before you decide to give them a go.
Help & support
You will find a Help and Support tab built right into the program menu. You can view FAQ's, online files, or even talk to a chat-help representative instantly. The chat help, however, isn't very effective as it may take multiple tries before you're connected to somebody. The program also has something called “Remote Restore” which lets you get immediate help from a personal assistant to remove spyware you can't get rid of and to report a known threat.
ZeroSpyware would be a solid edition to your computers security, but only if you are still operating under Windows XP. Windows 7 and Vista users will have to look elsewhere for their anti-spyware needs. It gives you solid protection, but the slow scan speeds and lack of compatibility make it only an average anti-spyware program.
